Five things

Thank you

I was just informed by my immigration lawyer that my work-sponsored visa was approved!

We have been involved in this whole visa process since at least February of this year, without definite word that it was going to work.

I’m very lucky to work at a place where 1) they value my work and me as a person and employee and 2) they have the resources and the will to help out in terms of visas / paperwork.

So, since I am now relieved and extremely grateful for this decision, I wanted to share my top 5 things I’m grateful for:

  1. Having a job that appreciates me, sees me as valuable and talented, and has resources to help those who need it. This also goes along the lines of what the foundation does on a daily basis and I feel extremely grateful – and lucky – to be part of this team.
  2. My boss, who – when I approached her almost 6 months ago about my visa – said yes without even thinking about it. It proves that there is trust and that she is the best.
  3. United States. Although the immigration system does need some fixing, sometimes it is worth the wait. There are many reasons why my husband and I decided to live in the United States and one of them has to do with the fact that you can get what you want if you do everything right – something that doesn’t necessarily happen in Argentina.
  4. Speaking of husband… He always kept a positive mind throughout this process. It’s not always easy, but even if the final product had been a different one, he would have still supported me in everything and made it work.
  5. And last – but not least – my parents. For teaching me that persevering is key in life. He who struggles, prevails, they say.
